Bruno Barreto is a partner of LDCM Advogados. He has extensive experience assisting clients in transnational disputes, including arbitration and court and administrative litigation. His practice focuses particularly on contract and corporate issues related to various sectors, such as M&A, Banking, Capital Markets, Oil & gas, Construction, Real Estate, Telecommunications, and Technology.


Prior to joining LDCM Advogados, Bruno Barreto was a lawyer in the field of Litigation and Arbitration at Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. and Quiroga Advogados. He also had relevant experience as a foreign associate of Covington & Burling LLP in Washington D.C., in International Arbitration.

Bruno Barreto was recognized as Rising Star in Dispute Resolution by The Legal 500 and Up and Coming in Dispute Resolution by Chambers Regions. He is also recognized as one of the prominent lawyers in Arbitration and Commercial Litigation by Leaders League and Análise Advocacia.

He is currently seeking a doctorate in International and Comparative Law from the University of São Paulo (USP), Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the New York University School of Law (NYU), and a Bachelor of Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Bruno Barreto is the assistant coordinator of the Grupo de Estudos em Arbitragem e Direito do Comércio Internacional of PUC-Rio, where he is also a professor. Bruno also serves as Regional Coordinator of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr) and member of the ARB-40 Subcommittee of the International Bar Association (IBA).

Selected relevant cases:

jointly represented with a Brazilian, an English, and a US firm, a multinational company in a dispute with a large Brazilian investment conglomerate on the acquisition of a Brazilian pulp and paper company valued at BRL 15 billion, including several pre-arbitration injunctions, arbitration before the International Arbitration Court of the International Chamber of Commerce (“CCI”) and arbitration before administered by the Market Arbitration Chamber (“CAM”).

Jointly represented with a Brazilian, an English, and a US firm, an oil company in an arbitration before the London Court of International Arbitration (“LCIA”) in Paris, France, and governed by the UNCITRAL Rules, on the validity and enforceability of a forfeiture clause of a Joint Operating Agreement (“JOA”), valued at approximately USD 600 million (approximately BRL 3 billion). This case was declared the Latin Lawyer Deal of the Year – Disputes in 2021.

Represented a Brazilian pharmaceutical company in an arbitration before the ICC in São Paulo concerning the breach of representations and warranties in a Share Purchase Agreement valued at approximately BRL 1.3 billion.

Represented one of the leading multinational companies in the hospitality sector in several actions in Brazil, seeking the termination of international timeshare contracts involving a potential risk of BRL 400 million.

Represented a US media conglomerate and a Swiss investment fund in two arbitrations before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”) against Hungary, related to the expropriation of two radio stations, valued at EUR 25 million (approximately BRL 150 million).
